KOL Journal (12/31/2013)

Did a stupid thing and forgot to cook the two ingredients together to get the dumplings. I'll have to do an AT run and get the hookah then. Then I tatter farmed for a while, and tried to get the Meatcleaver again, which didn't work. I'll have to do it 10 times or something, I guess.

Another possible goal, after more progress has been made on the others, is to do 7 basement runs to fully upgrade the telescope. It would take significant amounts of time to get to a high enough level that it wouldn't be extremely expensive to do it, and it would have to be after I perm the ascension important skills and the 5 Hobopolis skills and get the Clothing of Loathing.

I guess by that time it would be not that useful... But who cares. It will likely be useful in the future unless they totally change how the game works.

KOL Journal (12/30/2013)

OK, so the sea is done for this round. Pretty expensive to do all the buffs and stuff like that, but hopefully I can use some of that information for the next time to get it done faster. I was underlevelled for it, so that didn't help. I kept dying to the last few Colosseum fighters. Then I forgot to use crayon shavings, and then I forgot to change my weapon. That was dumb.

I'll put my strategy here so I don't forget.

The Sea

My rough notes about the Sea

KOL Journal (12/29/2013)

I forgot that I didn't have to do a lot of turns for the island after doing sidequests and stuff, so I managed to barely slide under 1000 turns and finish my run today. I'll take a short break from ascension to finish a seal clubber Gladiator Sea run and get the fossilized necklace all toothed up by borrowing spooky putty and using faxes and all that.

Or maybe I won't take much of a break and just ascend again.

Or an ~event~ will happen and I'll be preoccupied with that.

And I have low meat after buying the VIP key. So maybe I'll stop ascending for a bit longer? I dunno.

KOL Normal Quest Walkthrough (Softcore)

This is for no path or BIG!, since there are variations for the other types of challenge paths. It should still work pretty much the same, but the skills, food or drink strategies will be different. This guide does not include all possible paths, just the ones I prefer to use.

If you're on the BIG challenge path, you could immediately go to the Spooky Raven manor and unlock the ballroom. Then get the Strung Up Quartet (every 20 turns, then a 50% chance of getting this one, so lower combat frequency) and choose Play 'Sono Un Amanten Non Un Combattente'.

I always ascend as under a Knoll sign for the meatcar.

They don't have to be done in order, just as long as they all get done.

There's a factors list for each quest which speeds up the quest, and I'll put in red things you can do earlier for quest preparation if you feel like it.

Use KOLMafia and then you don't have to remember specific items to use and that kind of thing. And if you have Ezandora's Guide script, then you won't need a walkthrough (unless there's a change that hasn't been spaded yet)

Note (07/24/2015): I haven't updated this in a while, so I don't know what's out of date.

Jar of Psychoses Sword Guide

A psychoanalytic jar is obtained from the 2013 yearly familiar Angry Jung Man. These can be used on specific NPCs (and Jick) to get jar of psychoses, which can also be bought in the mall.

There are 7 jars.

Associated with each jar is a non-tradable sword. All the swords have 20-40 damage, and require 200 Muscle to use. Byte, Truthsayer and the White Dragon Fang are 1-handed, while the Ginsu, Sword of Procedural Generation, Bloodbath and Meatcleaver are 2-handed. Only one jar can be used per day, and you must use a new jar every day. The area may or may not reset on rollover.

Parts of Truthsayer and White Dragon Fang are tradeable. The item that produces the Meatcleaver is also tradeable.

You can reach the jar areas from the couch next to a jar at your campground.

Information from the Alliance from Hell clan forums and the wiki.

In the middle of CA2 Runs

Right now, I'm in the middle of doing Class Act II runs. I have about 22 skills to perm, so I'm combining doing that and Sea runs to check that off. I'm on Day 4 of a softcore seal clubber CAII run.

I've got to the island and have finished off two sidequests. I used a fax for the first time and will also use that to get the fossilized necklace later. Hopefully, I finish the level 12 quest tomorrow and get halfway through the last bit. I think I'm on track for finishing by Day 6. Maybe I'll get the ittah bittah hookah in a couple weeks once I finish some more ascensions. It's even more useful to boost ML in this run than normal, though I basically just died a lot to flyer to 100% completion (not the smartest, but I don't care at this point).

I don't like seal clubbers. I usually play magic using classes because they have more firepower, though they're bad at surviving. Well, if it's single player, I just cheat and make myself super powerful and use a weapon using class. Most of the time, the story's bad, so I get the combat part out of the way so I can skip that at least.

Banishing is useful, though I would have to be a seal clubber to use it. That's annoying. I'll go back to Sauceror as soon as possible.

I made a list of useful skills the classes I still have to do for the Clothing of Loathing have (and that I'll have instant access to during a CAII run)

Accordion Thief (does this mean it will be really easy?)

Cletus's Canticle of Celerity +20% combat initiative song
polka of plenty +50% meat
phat loot +20% item drop
ode to booze more adventures from booze
sonata of sneakiness - Combat frequency
cantata of confrontation + Combat frequency
suspicious gaze +20 combat initiative for 10 adventures

Disco Bandit

Disco momentum + passives which increase item drops and stat gains
smooth movements - combat frequency
disco leer +10% meat

Pastamancer (spice ghost is MP expensive though)

spice ghost more item drops
angel hair wisp more combat initiative
lasagmbie more meat drops
